Science of Detoxification

This is me completing a ten day cycle of eating nothing but raw fruit and veggies. For the funny people out there that somehow know me, I’m not doing this to lose weight just want to thank my poor adrenals, lymph, kidneys and all the emunctories in general to keep up with this dingy and ignorant human inner nature of mine. Thin does not necessarily mean 100% healthy and there’s always room to rebuild, regenerate tissues and alkaline the bodies, all of them, not just the physical one. I somehow reached a mile in my very interesting life where I def need to catch my breath, ditch the luggage, carry on lighter and happier and bring on the goodies! Because I deserve it, right? Loads of beautiful fresh sweet fruit and tasty veggies, that’s what I wanted to bring to my temple.

Detox sounds somehow more glam than it should be. Talking too much about it in superficial fashion terms gave this simple cleaning process a touch of razzle dazzle in order to be accepted and taken into consideration.
As we experience it, we may find out detox is not a quick fix and definitely not a lightweight. It’s a serious commitment as presumably we understood how the body functions in order for us to enjoy good health as long as possible. Detox comes with healing crises that greatly discomfort the faint-hearted and I think one should know all there is about it before they begin.

Dr Morse says in his book “The detox Miracle Sourcebook” that “A fruit diet will stir up the toxins and mucus in the body in an aggressive manner, leaving you with some very noticeable side effects. However, if you consume an all-raw food diet of both fruits and vegetables for a few weeks first, this will allow for a much slower and generally easier cleansing process. The body will start eliminating anything that should not be in it, even to the point of eliminating weak tissue (like fingernails), and weak muscle tissue. This sounds more gruesome than it is, but you should know what the body will do to clean itself out. The body can tear itself down to a frightening level to rid itself of its weaknesses and toxins. However, rest assured that the body will rebuild itself beautifully.

You will be detoxifying for the rest of your life at one level or another; especially if you eat fresh fruits and vegetables on a regular basis. Your body will keep digging deeper and deeper within itself, cleansing and restoring proper functions. Most of this processing then becomes very subtle. You won’t know it is even going on, except for occasional symptoms of mucus discharge, cold-type symptoms, or aches and pains. Toxic protein in meat, mucus-forming substances in dairy products, complex sugars in starches, grains and refined sugars will change the way the body eliminates. Cooked and processed foods slow down body elimination and, in most cases, the toxic by-products of these foods are stored in the tissues. Cells won’t breathe properly and will become hypo-active, slowly losing its ability to function.”

My constitution unfortunately wouldn’t allow me to fallow a detox plan for more than 10 days for the moment, although I’m pretty proud of my will and discipline during this little cycle. It will definitely be easier when the weather will get warmer, although except for day 5 and 7 when I craved sweets like crazy all was under control as I ate to my heart content, as much and as often I wanted. I also felt the need to eat something hot but managed just fine as I heated up raw veggies soup to 40-50 degrees and that did for me. After these 10 days I slowly introduced baked veggies (beetroot, fennel, patate douce, leeks, peppers, etc) to my usual salads, cooked soups cooked whole rice and rice cakes. No potatoes, no eggs, definitely no dairy products. I’ll try to go easy on potatoes and eggs but I’m very happy I could eliminate bread and dairy without craving them!

“When you begin to increase the energy of your physical body through detoxification, you will start detoxifying in all your bodies. Thoughts and emotions stick like glue to your cells and create subtle obstructions that you can carry for a lifetime (some say for many lifetimes). So, if you start crying or yelling during your detoxification process, this is the reason. Let it all come out. Be observant of your thoughts and feelings, and try not to hold on to anything. Let these obstructions go. You must decide what you want in your life and in your body.”
